about me
My name is Niklas Buehren and I am an applied Microeconomist, with interests in poverty reduction, agriculture, public works and adolescent empowerment. I work as a Poverty Economist for Tanzania at the World Bank, focusing on poverty measurement, equity, and inclusive growth. My work includes leading analytical and operational programs, supporting evidence-based policy design, and helping build a stronger national statistical system.
Previously, I was working in the World Bank’s Africa Gender Innovation Lab housed by the region's Office of the Chief Economist. My work there focused on impact evaluations of programs that economically empower women in sectors like agriculture, entrepreneurship, and adolescent development. I have also consulted for BRAC in Uganda and South Sudan.
I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from University College London.
